Orcs Must Die makes an overdue return to consoles in its third full game.
Back in 2011, Robot Entertainment released a little game called Orcs Must Die! onto the now-defunct Xbox Live Arcade, as well as on PC. It was an instant hit and it spawned a successful sequel before fizzling out into obscurity.
Robot Entertainment brought the series back for a free-to-play release with Orcs Must Die! Unchained on PS4 and PC, but after running the game at a loss for a while, the game’s servers were turned off and the game is now as dead as a dodo.
Orcs Must Die! 3 was originally a Stadia exclusive, meaning you had to play it up in the cloud if you wanted your fix of tower defence action. Obviously, that’s not a great solution for those without decent internet connections, but now the game has released on PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Seris X|S, and PC, it’s now possible to play the game completely offline. Hooray! No more lag whenever somebody turns on 4K streaming on Netflix…
If you’re wondering why there is no PS5 release… that’s coming at a later date. The developers are still working on the next-gen version for PS5, though the game is natively supported on Xbox Series X|S.
But is it any good? Well, the answer to that question lies in the video below. Or, if you want, you can go and read my original review over on Pure PlayStation.
